The Relationship Between Adaptation to Chronic Illness, Spirituality, and Quality of Life in the Elderly in Turkey.

This study aimed to determine the relationship between adaptation to chronic illness, spirituality, and quality of life in the elderly. The descriptive study was conducted with 306 elderly individuals with chronic illnesses registered at a family health center located in a provincial center. In the study, a weak positive correlation was found between the Adaptation to Chronic Illness Scale and the FACIT-SP-12 Scale belief sub-dimension. The Adaptation to Chronic Illness Scale showed a moderate positive correlation with the SF-36 Scale sub-dimensions of physical functioning, physical and emotional role limitations, social functioning, and pain; while a weak positive correlation was observed with the general health perception sub-dimension. A weak positive correlation was identified between the FACIT-SP-12 Scale belief sub-dimension and the SF-36 Scale sub-dimensions of physical and emotional role limitations. It was determined that the elderly had a moderate level of adaptation to chronic illnesses and a high level of spiritual well-being.
