Assessing complicated spiritual grief: A psychometric study of the 2.0 in an Iranian context.

Death Stud . :1-10

Résumé

This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Inventory of Complicated Spiritual Grief 2.0 (ICSG 2.0) in a sample of 355 Iranian adults (69.3% female; M age = 35.32, SD = 9.23). The scale showed excellent internal consistency (α and ω = 0.94) and test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.84). Convergent validity was supported through significant correlations with the PG-13-R, Negative Religious Coping, and Religious and Spiritual Struggles scales (r = 0.69, 0.67, 0.63, respectively). Divergent validity was shown via a negative correlation with Positive Religious Coping (r = -0.34). Known-groups validity revealed higher ICSG 2.0 scores among individuals who experienced unnatural losses and among men. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the original three-factor structure (χ(4) = 2.89, RMSEA = 0.059, CFI = 0.92). These findings provide strong evidence for the cross-cultural validity and clinical utility of the Persian ICSG 2.0 in assessing complicated spiritual grief.
